News from Pittsburgh Presbytery

New Year’s resolution-makers hope to make sea changes in their lives overnight. “On January 1 I will abruptly alter direction with my finances, my diet, my exercise, my habits, my loved ones, my work, etc.” – so goes the typical New Year’s resolution. But single-day radical changes, whether personal or corporate or national, are notoriously difficult to achieve. So how are we able to accomplish the radical changes we desire? In this week’s meditation, Day by Day, Rev. Dr. Sheldon W. Sorge answers this question and more.

Over the past few months emails falsely claiming to be from Sheldon Sorge have circulated to some of you. That activity has recently increased, and has expanded to include emails purporting to be from Carla Campbell. Most of these come from Gmail addresses that they do not own, and to which they have no access. Read more for tips on how to recognize and report these emails.

A friendly reminder that the year-end statistical reports are due Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Please remember that your statistics must be approved by session before the submission deadline, so plan accordingly. Read more for further information and the links to you need submit reports.

A hybrid meeting is one where a group of individuals is gathered together with additional individuals participating online. With the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, hybrid meetings will be necessary for congregations for the foreseeable future. The leadership team of Pittsburgh Presbytery has written up guidelines to help churches navigate through this next phase.
