Bethel AME Church Overture
At our September presbytery meeting we received a first read of the overture from Sixth Presbyterian Church seeking support for the efforts of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church to obtain reparations for the seizure of its building by eminent domain for less than market value during the redevelopment of the lower Hill District in the 1950s. This overture is being presented to the presbytery as an invitation to open discussion in order to shape future possible presbytery action. We will receive a second read at our February 16, 2023 presbytery meeting. We would love to hear any questions concerning the overture; please email Rev. Ralph Lowe.

Freeing Congregational Mission
Join authors (and Pittsburgh Presbytery members) Bala Khyllep and Hunter Farrell as they build on the learnings from their 2022 InterVarsity Press book, Freeing Congregational Mission, to explore ways leaders can help their congregations connect more deeply and mutually with their neighbors and with global partners. Bala and Hunter provide leadership to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary’s World Mission Initiative. Join us for an empowering session where mission leaders discover specific strategies and tools to lead congregations towards a missional theology of companionship, cultural humility, and co-development.
