In God’s economy, there is always more than enough for everyone to have their fill. The only miracle of Jesus recorded in all four Gospels is the feeding of the five thousand, suggesting that it is the quintessential story for showing what Jesus was all about. Abundance for everyone, with more than enough to spare! Just as God is generous with us “beyond all we could ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20), can we also be generous in offering a place at our table for everyone, whether or not they look like us or think like us or express themselves like us? Annually the Sunday before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated as Freedom Rising Sunday! This year we are uniquely subjected to a pandemic that is increasing becoming endemic causing our resources and time to be limit. But we are a people called to be actively engaged in the world among us, so our faith comes alive! Please join with other congregations this Sunday as we unite in prayer, worship, witness, and giving to support Freedom Rising and our shared call to address the worsening plight of the African American male. Being Matthew 25, a new Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) monthly livestream series, begins at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Jan. 20. Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Westminster College have formed a partnership designed to educate and equip students for ministry in the way of Jesus by combining their undergraduate education with a Master of Divinity degree program. Designed to provide a seamless transition between the undergraduate and seminary contexts, 3+3 will allow students to earn both a bachelor’s and Master of Divinity degree in six years — three at each institution.
