Presbyterians prize their orderliness, and justifiably so. Our allergy to disorder has proven to be a true “superpower” that has helped make us a “long haul” community. Since 2017, Pittsburgh Presbytery’s Next Generation Ministry Team has sponsored The Event: Because Youth Group is Better Together. For the past three years, a couple of hundred kids and adult leaders have joined together for a night of music, games, teaching, and discussion. Out of an abundance of caution, we’ve moved The Event to a virtual format this year – but all the ingredients are the same. We’ve got games, music (for the first time led by a band comprised entirely of youth), a talk, and small group questions for you to use whenever, wherever, and with whoever you want. We’d love to see any pictures you take of your group taking part in the event and you can use #theeventvirtual to make them easier for people to find. You can find all the details on the website.
Church Leadership Connection (CLC) and the Call Process Support Office of the PC(USA) are collaborating with PC(USA) Research Services to conduct a study into congregational experiences of mission studies. We want to learn what congregations are doing, what works for them, what does not work, and what resources they need.
They are designing a mission study resource for congregations, and the results of this survey will help ensure their resource is grounded in what congregations actually need. If you have feedback on the mission study process, click “read more” to access the survey.
Are you serving as an educator in your church, council or agency—either as a volunteer or as paid staff? Do you feel like you would like to have a stronger biblical and theological foundation and greater skills in educational ministry leadership? Then the Educator’s Certification Committee (ECC) of the PC (USA) has created a training process for you (and maybe others serving alongside you in educational ministry, as well) that can lead to endorsement as a Christian Education Associate (CEA). Pittsburgh Presbytery Office Reopens!
After more than a year of our offices being closed, presbytery offices have partially reopened. Staff are present at the office Tuesdays through Thursdays, and welcome appointments those days at the office. All staff members are vaccinated against COVID. Conference rooms are available, though distancing and masks are still required if anyone in the meeting has not been fully vaccinated.
