News from Pittsburgh Presbytery

This week we are excited to offer a video meditation! Recognizing the excitement and stress Holy Week and Easter brings to church leadership, Elder Ralph Lowe, Director of Justice Ministries, and Rev. Brian Wallace, Associate Minister, discuss what this season means to them, the sermon message they would give if they were preaching, and what the celebration of Easter truly means for Christians.

Pittsburgh Presbytery is in search of a full time Administrative Assistant. The position is open effective April 1,  and will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is available. The ideal candidate will have a sense of vocation to serve the Lord, be familiar with the polity and workings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), have excellent organizational and communications skills, and be experienced in website management. If you would like to explore the opportunity to join our team in the essential work of the Pittsburgh Presbytery, please write a letter of interest and send it with your resume to Sheldon Sorge.

The Synod of the Trinity is offering several spring opportunities for you to breathe, recalibrate and revision, moving ahead over what has been, and may still be, a long road. The vaccines offer a promising future even while continuing with masks and distancing.
A way forward, the promise of new wholeness – now and not yet.
As Christians, we understand that reality! It takes practice and attention to remain nimble and open to the Spirit as we go. We trust that you may find encouragement and tools to aid your walk and leadership in these offerings.

After getting some great feedback from you the PC(USA) Store has updated the At-Home Kit Guides that go with each of the Growing in God’s Love: A Story Bible Curriculum units. The units coming out in July will follow this new format as well. What they didn’t change is that each guide is still a customizable Word document and there is one guide for every unit. Check out the new format!

The National Black Presbyterian Caucus (NBPC), in Partnership with the Metro-Urban Institute of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (MUI) and Pittsburgh Presbytery, is celebrating the annual Palm Sunday Unity service on March 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Patrice Fowler-Searcy, Associate Pastor for Mission Ministries at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, will be delivering the message for the service. They hope to see you there! Register to join!
