General Minister Search Update

The General Minister Special Nominating Committee affirmed their commitment to the Presbytery’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy. The committee received and reviewed the written responses to their initial questions from the current pool of candidates. From among them, a group was selected to be invited to a first interview. These interviews are currently underway.

Save Money on Your Church’s Light Bill!

Duquesne Light has a grant available for savings through florescent bulb replacement. The new bulbs are LED’s and the reduction of wattage is 23 watts per bulb. One local church is replacing 500 old florescent bulbs and experiencing considerable savings on their monthly Duquesne Light bill. The grant expires in 2026. Click here for examples of lighting rebates available, and for contact information.

Bring a Bible to the Presbytery Meeting

The Matthew 25 Steering Committee of Pittsburgh Presbytery is asking each church in the presbytery to bring at least one Life Recovery Bible to the May 23 presbytery meeting at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary for donation to the jail. You can also donate the equivalent purchase price of $17. For an announcement you can share in worship in a bulletin or on a screen, click here. Gifts of Bibles and monetary offerings will be dedicated at the May meeting.

In partnership with the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus, Pittsburgh Presbytery sponsored Henry Highland Garnet Weekend at Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church. Media from that event, including reflections from Rev. Self-Development of People Sunday

The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP) is celebrating SDOP Sunday on March 10, 2024. Consider celebrating with your congregation, by learning how the PCUSA partnerships with low-income communities nationally, locally, and internationally. Resources available can help you plan a Minute for Mission, singing one of the SDOP hymns, and sharing the program during your church service.
