Announcing Repair and Reconciliation Alliance Members

On May 2, 2023, the Pittsburgh Presbytery created the Repair and Reconciliation Alliance to thoroughly review the historical experiences of our congregations with African American congregants and staff, and offer recommendations on actions of repair and reconciliation.
We are excited to announce the Presbyters who have agreed to serve as members of the Alliance, and who can be found on the Alliance website. Please join us in congratulating these members and pray for the Alliance as they begin this important work.

Matthew 25 Online Workshop

On October 30, at 12:00pm, there will be an online workshop working toward eradicating systemic poverty. “In it for the Long Haul” will focus on international accompaniment for long-term sustainable development that results in lasting social change addressing poverty’s root cause. Vietnam Mission Vision Trip – April 18-27

Our purpose is to learn from and be inspired by Christians in Vietnam through involvement with numerous brothers and sisters in Christ. We will engage with various ministries, including the Presbyterian Church, Bible Society, UUC seminary, campus ministry, media ministry, and an Unreached People Group, to listen, pray with, and encourage them. There is an option for a 7-day Mekong River cruise prior to the vision trip. For more information contact Don Dawson at dawsondonj@gmail.com.


Host Malawi Visitors in 2024

The International Partnership will be hosting a delegation of 20 Malawian and South Sudanese pilgrims to Pittsburgh from May 9-21, 2024. There are opportunities to financially support this trip, and to host an African guest. Please email Eddie Willson for more information, to host a pilgrim, and/or to make a financial contribution.

Celebration Corner: 2023 Fred Rogers Award Recipient

Reverend Cornell Jones is the 2023 recipient of the Fred Rogers Helper Award. Cornell is the Director of Street Outreach for the City of Pittsburgh, CEO of Operation Amani, and a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. The award is presented annually to individuals who embody the spirit of selfless service and dedication to their communities.

Focus on Medical Debt

Our own Bower Hill Community Church has been featured in Synod news! Helping to erase medical debt in the Synod of the Trinity region has become the focus of the Mission Committee at Bower Hill Community Church. Bower Hill’s Mission Committee is partnering with RIP Medical Debt, a four-star, 100-percent Charity Navigator non-profit organization that buys portfolios of medical debt, to begin eliminating these bills.
