Why Ministry with the Next Generation Matters: An Overview

It’s essential that we begin thinking carefully about “Why” ministry with the next generation matters. We need to be able to articulate why involvement in the life of a church is good for young families in a way that will resonate and connect. We don’t like to think about it this way, but it bears asking: What benefit would a family with kids and teenagers gain from being involved in the life of your church? Calling, Gathering, and Application: RRA

What are the stories of Black Presbyterian Churches in the Pittsburgh Presbytery? How have we failed as a Presbytery to love them as we love ourselves? How can we heal the breaches with our brothers and sisters in Christ? The Pittsburgh Presbytery created the Repair and Reconciliation Alliance to thoroughly review the historical experiences of these congregations and offer recommendations on actions of repair and reconciliation. Over the next two years, the Repair and Reconciliation Alliance needs various people to begin this task: leaders, researchers, writers, videographers, accountants, and more.

Celebration Corner: Bob Abrams

On July 31st, one of our presbytery’s minister members, Rev. Bob Abrams, celebrated his 100th birthday. He is still volunteering for Presbyterian Men in Louisville. He recently took time to sit down with his colleagues in the Office of the General Assembly to reflect on what he calls a blessed life.

Free Training for Pastors and Church Leaders

Vanessa Bates, CRE, is offering free Training in Church Administration to all pastors and other church leaders as part of her D. Min project. The four-session training will be held via Zoom from 1-3 p.m. (Eastern) on Thursdays beginning July 27 and concluding on Sept 7. Participants can register for one or all of the modules on this site.

Registration Open for the Henderson Leadership Conference

Registration is now open for this year’s Henderson Leadership Conference at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The Conference takes place September 24-26, 2023. This year’s keynoter Dr. Will Willimon will present the Henderson Lecture on Church and Ministry, “Hope for the Many Churches Where Few Are Gathered,” Monday evening, Sept. 25, 2023, at 7:00 person and online.
