Restorative Justice

We as a presbytery received multiple reads of an overture from Sixth Presbyterian Church seeking support for the efforts of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church to obtain reparations for the seizure of its building by eminent domain for less than market value. We are excited to announce part of the long journey of healing started Friday 4/14/2023 when Bethel AME and the Pittsburgh Penguins announced an agreement to rights development on land owned by the Penguins. This is an exciting first step on the road to repair and support of Bethel AME efforts. We will let you know how this impacts the proposed overture in the near future.

One Body, Many Parts: Leadership Skills for Engaging Difference in Congregations

In the church we often feel comfortable sharing about things we have in common, but less comfortable talking about the differences between us and our fellow members. But if we never talk about our differences, we miss opportunities to grow in our understanding of each other and of our faith. In this pre-Presbytery meeting seminar, we’ll explore concrete practices and leadership skills that can help us constructively engage the differences among us, with the aim of strengthening relationships and more fully living into our identity as the body of Christ. (registration – lunch provided)

May 18, 2023
10:00am
Pittsburgh Seminary (John Knox)
616 N. Highland Avenue
