With All the Saints

The great biblical symbol of the gathering of all the saints is the heavenly banquet, something Jesus mentions often. Presbyterians know something about banquets. We call them church dinners, and usually they are potluck affairs. Guests pay nothing, but members are expected to bring their offering to the table. Like potluck pros, can we learn to find great joy in offering the best we can as part of the great company of all the saints? In this week’s meditation, WIth All the Saints, Rev. Dr. Sheldon W. Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving which this year falls on Nov. 29. Because the PC(USA) — which first joined the #GivingTuesday movement in 2014 — has witnessed increased engagement through its livestreamed #GivingTuesday programming in 2020 and 2021, a multi-agency, cross-departmental team is once again planning a livestream from noon through 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Nov. 29 designed to entertain, inform and encourage greater giving.

Dr. David Gambrell, Associate for Worship in the Office of Theology and Worship, and Rev. Sally Ann McKinsey, editor of Call to Worship. “A Year with Matthew” begins in Advent, on November 27.

Next: The Winter Youth Retreat at Camp Crestfield
