MISSION

The mission of the Ventures In People Program (VIP) is to serve and to fulfill a vital need in the McKeesport area through a free after-school program for at risk "latch-key" children. The program is one through which the children can experience learning, nurturing, care, instruction and fellowship in a Christian environment during what would otherwise be idle time or time spent unsupervised.


CURRENT PROGRAMS

Homework help, vocal music, drama, academic games, cooking, home safety, first aid, local history, ecology and other relevant subjects. VIP is open to first through fifth grades, Monday - Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 


HISTORY

VIP is an outgrowth of a two year study by special committee of Central Church on community involvement. It was founded in the spring of 1985 as an after school program for children in grades 4-6, two days per week. The program was expanded to include grades 3-6 and is now open to grades 1-5, Monday - Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Also now includes a summer program.

Sharing talents and expertise, financial aid, donating educational materials and recreational equipment, praying for program.


INFORMATIONAL PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

We can provide speakers to interpret the program and video cassettes are also available. We are open to having visitors come to see the program.
