MISSION

The Samaritan Counseling Center of Western PA Mission is to help individuals, families and communities achieve spiritual, emotional and physical well-being through professional psychological counseling and educational programs using the resources of faith.

At one time or another, we each face stressful situations, and sometimes we need outside help in getting through these difficult times.  At the Samaritan Counseling Center of Western PA, we understand and we can help.

CURRENT PROGRAMS

APPROACH TO COUNSELING

Our counselors work within the context of each person’s religious tradition and no attempt will be made to impose a personal tradition.  Our counselors are committed to upholding the ethical standards of the counseling profession, which demands confidentiality and the utmost regard for the value of the client’s time and finances.

HISTORY

The Samaritan Counseling Center was established in 1982 as the vision of a group of pastors who wanted a professionally-based counseling center to which they could refer their parishioners, knowing that the faith aspect of a person’s life would be integrated into the counseling process.  The Samaritan Counseling Center is fully credentialed by the Samaritan Institute, Denver, Colorado.  This affiliation allows our center to communicate with nearly 100 centers throughout the United States and Japan.  In order to maintain this credential, each center has to meet established criteria in over 40 areas and be committed to the integration of faith into the therapeutic process.  The Samaritan Counseling Center currently operates five offices located throughout Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties.

PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The professional staff of the Samaritan Counseling Center is comprised of state licensed social workers, marriage and family therapists and professional counselors.  In addition, the professional staff members belong to nationally-recognized professional organizations.  We also have a consultative relationship with a psychiatrist, who is certified in child as well as adult psychiatry.
