MISSION
To provide opportunities
for fellowship, discipline, and ministry for Christian international students
in Pittsburgh in cooperation with local churches and mission agencies;
To seek out, and act
upon, opportunities to present the gospel to non-Christian international
students. This shall be done in love, and with due sensitivity to their
ethnic heritage and religious convictions, thus permitting them to make
a free choice concerning a commitment to Jesus Christ; and
To encourage, and to
provide opportunities for, local churches and mission agencies to participate
in the program of P.R.I.S.M.
CURRENT PROGRAMS
Promote international
Christian conferences, enable hosting opportunities in Christian homes,
provide Bible studies and Christian movie programs, provide conversational
English classes (including Bible study in easy English) for student spouses,
provide free clothing and household goods, provide inter-cultural exchange
in various formats, provide sightseeing opportunities linked with Christian
hosting, enable speaking opportunities for international scholars.
HISTORY
In response to Jesus'
commandment that discipline should be made among all ethnic groups ("nations"),
in 1980 P.R.I.S.M. began to attempt to meet the needs of international
students/scholars residing in the Pittsburgh area, thereby hoping to earn
the right to proclaim the message of the gospel among them.
